What is Authentic Movement?
Authentic movement is an embodied movement practice that encourages individuals to explore and express their inner experience through spontaneous, unplanned movement. The practice is rooted in the belief that the body holds an innate wisdom. By tuning into one's body, emotions and inner experiences, movers can begin to access a deeper sense of self-awareness, release repressed emotions and explore the unconscious. Eventually the "shoulds" and inner judgements fade away to allow for a deeper inner listening. This group is ideal for women who want a safe space to explore and express their inner experience, better understand themselves and feel more grounded. It is a practice that draws upon both mindful practices and psychology. Authentic movement is accessible to all and does not require any previous movement experience.

Dance/Movement Therapy is a type of psychotherapy that uses movement as a creative outlet for emotional, cognitive and physical integration. It focuses on nonverbal communication, body awareness and the connection between the body and the mind. It allows an individual to express and release emotions that might be difficult to verbalize. People are often good at over thinking and get stuck in a loop, retelling the same story, reliving the same narrative or constantly asking why things are not changing. A significant part of this work is learning to trust how to safely connect with one's body. Tuning in to what sensations and stories that happen in the body can provide additional opportunities for new ways to see, think and feel. DMT can expand self expression, increase sense of embodiment and help process unresolved emotions. It is accessible to all and does not require any previous movement experience.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidence based psychotherapeutic approach developed to help people process and heal from traumatic memories or distressing experiences. It is widely used to treat PTSD, anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions. EMDR involves a structured and scripted, eight phase treatment that uses bilateral stimulation, often in the form of tapping, while the client recalls the targeted, upsetting memory. The idea behind EMDR is that traumatic memories can remain "stuck" in the brain, causing ongoing distress, either consciously or unconsciously. The bilateral stimulation, which in innately relaxing, helps one to reprocess these memories, allowing individuals to integrate them in a more adaptive way. The goal is to help the brain process these memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge, making them less distressing.
